Excuses, Octopuses and Very Black Cat-uses
Welp. It’s been a while.
[Todo: list extensive, varied and plausible excuses here]
[Todo: treat neglected website to a spa day]
ANYWAY.
My very-delayed Big Project is approaching completion. It’s called Saturday Gazette, and is about an octopus… IN SPACE.
That’s right. You heard it here first – unless you heard it elsewhere first. But this post is my first ‘official’ announcement.
Saturday Gazette is episodic fiction. You’ll be able to read it episode by episode in the usual ebook formats from the usual vendors, or for free online (probably on Wattpad and/or Royal Road). I’ll set up a patreon account, through which supporters will be able to read episodes early.
I’ll also narrate the episodes, and these will be uploaded to Youtube, and possibly Spotify, probably at the rate of two acts a week. (Each episode consists of 4 acts)
After the story is complete in these formats the complete edition will be available in ebook form, as well as in paperback and as a full audiobook.
In addition to the story itself, there will be separate cover art for each episode, an animated trailer, a song (yes, a song) for the trailer, and a music video for the song!
If this all sounds quite extensive and unnecessary for a pulpy story about an octopus in space, well, yes, it is, and was and I was procrastinating hard, okay?
I still have a lot to do. I’ll start dropping some teasers in the next week or so, and I estimate the first episode will drop in April Edit: June, hopefully(?). Edit: 2022? Probably. Possibly. Watch this space for more details and links – or follow me on Twitter (@ashmatica).
In the meantime, I recorded an original short story for my Youtube channel as a mic/audio/vox test. It’s called The Blackest Cat in the World and it’s about a very black cat. Video embedded below.
